Guns & SSC: death by dumbass

Those of us who are in the lifestyle for a number of years now know that we're considered crazy, dangerous to ourselves and our children, and just down right stupid for using chains, whips, paddles, needles, and god/dess knows what else to get our "kink" on.

But, when you see an article like this: Fatal gunplay in Maine sex dungeon leads to trial is it any wonder that we're all seen as kooks and idiots?!

Why, oh, why, oh why, would you ever consent to play under the influence? I think if anyone would check into these people's backgrounds, not one of them knows anything about RISK or SSC. And probably has had little to no contact with the BDSM community at large.

In the end, it's really sad that someone had to die at the hands of another, and make the rest of us look more like wanna-be serial killers. *sigh*

    Oy.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. And doesn't help the reputation of either gay marriage or BDSM.

And people worry about MY safety!

I'm afraid you are likely wrong Cutesy, at least about the idea that none of these people had any serious contact with the local community. One of them had a personal dungeon and apparently was willing to share, that seems to buy a lot of "tolerance" in BDSM these days. I agree it's plain stupid to introduce drugs or alcohol into any scene play, but in todays world it would be unforgiveably politically incorrect to chastise anyone for it, especially if that person allowed play in their dungeon.

Magnus, no disrespect, but I doubt that I am wrong. Just because the media CALLED it a dungeon, doesn't mean that it was. They call ANYTHING a sex dungeon to sell headlines. When the media has been involved in any of my cases, whether criminal or civil, all the media is concerned about is what sells stories. And words like dungeons and sex sells stories.

And, yes, I will chastise someone who plays that includes drugs or alcohol. You can't give CONSENT if you're alcohol or drug-impaired. Period.

At all the public and private parties that I know of, NO alcohol or drugs are permitted for play. Period. In fact, most Dungeon Managers (DMs) that I know will not let someone into the play area if they have seen the person consumed alcohol, or suspect they are under the influence of any intoxicant.

    Cutesy,

I'm afraid I know better than many how the media spins things. Of course they can do that because they are quoting the prosecutors office. If I may, what part of the world do you live in? I'm seriously considering moving and I would love a place like what you describe, where folks individually insist on responsibility in the lifestyle. Of course, I'd have to rejoin the lifestyle before it would make any difference. Stories like this one are a part of why I left it.

Just be sure you aren't doing it with another man you ain't married to - that's whorizontal adultery. Why do such a thing when life is so finite? You think you're more powerful than God? Here's what I'd do. I wanna give you everything and more in Heaven and, to do that, we must wait, Miss Gorgeous. God hears the longings of thy heart; God rewards those who're faithfull --- PS The blog I have above is how I wanna serve you in the Eternal Great Beyond. God bless you.
